Womens Halloween Costumes

What to look for in womens costumes: One of the biggest wow factors in womens costumes comes from wearing something that no one else has seen before. Again, this is a great reason to spend a little time shopping online. It gives you the opportunity to discover hidden gems that others might not have found. It can also help to take the venue into consideration. If you show up to a costume contest at a casino dressed as Lady Luck, you might score a few extra points from the judges.

Quite a number of Halloween costume contests take place in bars. If you’re trying to compete in the bar crowd, then it might be worthwhile to consider sexy womens costumes. Keep in mind, though, that just being sexy probably isn’t enough. There should be something really unique about your outfit. That could mean that it’s really well made with lots of detail, that it’s a new take on something everyone knows (maybe a sexy version of the Tin Woodman from the Wizard of Oz, for example), or it’s something completely unexpected and new.

In addition to sexy womens costumes, funny costumes also do well in contests. Chances are that the crowd and judges are already going to be having a good time (it’s Halloween, after all), so something that makes them laugh is likely to score pretty well. Choosing something topical for your area might also give you an advantage. Dressing as a basketball player is too generic to win contests. Dressing up as the star of the local college basketball team gives you more of an edge.

Getting the most from costume contests: Before Halloween comes around, you’ll need to decide whether you want to go out just to have fun, or if winning costume contests is a major goal for you. If you decide you want to be competitive, start early by finding out where the best contests are in your town. Having the coolest womens costume in the world doesn’t matter if you’re not at the right place to show it off.

You can often find the contests advertised in your local weekly paper. They’ll likely include the prize amounts and the cost of entry, if this is required. There are probably enough free costume contests that you shouldn’t have to pay to compete. If you have to, call the venue to find out what kind of prize money is being offered.

Make a list of all the costume contests that includes the time of the contest and the location of the bar or other venue. It might be helpful to prioritize them by time, geography, or prize money offered. You may find that you can only do contests in a certain part of town due to time constraints. If you are going to be driving from venue to venue, make sure you aren’t drinking or that you have a designated driver.

Of course, just having a cool womens costume to wear for Halloween should be fun in and of itself. Winning contests for your great costume will hopefully just be the icing on the cake of a great night out with your friends.
